  • Adaptive cruise control (ACC)
  • Adaptive high beam
  • Glare-free high beam

What is calibration?

If your car is fitted with ADAS technology, and you need a windscreen replacement, it’s a more complex job than previously. That takes skills and expertise, and the right equipment.

So next time you are getting your windscreen replaced, ask whether it needs to be calibrated*. And then leave it to the experts.

What is recalibration? If your car has an ADAS camera or rain sensors, after the windscreen is changed the original manufacturer requires that it be check and calibrated using and an approved system (we use TEXA Diagnostics). We then attach your car to a computer and use the manufacturer’s specifications to ensure all the systems are aligned and working correctly so as not to compromise the safety systems installed.

How long does it take?

Again depending on your vehicle it takes approximately 1 hour to fit the windscreen and it needs to sit for 1 hour before driving. If your car has sensors that need
calibrating, extra time should be allowed to do this.

What does aftermarket glass mean?

After market glass is an alternative to genuine manufacturers glass. It is still made to Australian Standards and is exactly the same as your original glass.

My car has sensors in the windscreen, what are they?

Depending on the year and make of your car you may have a rain sensor, to detect rain on the windscreen and turn on the wipers for you. A light sensor, this will detect if it is getting dark and turn your headlights on. If your windscreen has a camera in it, this is a Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS) and can be used to warn or keep you in your lane when driving, detect objects in front of the cr and help you apply the brakes effectively.

Can it be replaced at my home?

Yes we can replace most windscreens onsite providing there is enough room and cover if it is raining. If your car has sensors such as ADAS then it will have to be brought to our workshop in Nerang as it may need to be recalibrated.

Will you repair small screens or only major screens?

No job is too big or small for Premier Windscreens!

Premier Windscreens replace windscreens from the smallest car to the biggest truck or bus, no problem.

What is ADAS?

If you have bought a new car in the last couple of years it will more than likely have Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) fitted.

ADAS comes in a range of sensors from Lane Departure Warning Cameras to Collision Avoidance Radars. Some are fitted to the windscreen of the car and others in different panels of the car.

The most important aspect of ADAS as that all of the systems need to talk to each other and be able to ‘see’ the road around it. So if any part is damaged, replaced or moved, it will need to be re calibrated.

Premier Windscreens are the leaders in ADAS equipped vehicles and use world leading TEXA multi-brand diagnostics.

How important is it to have ADAS windows installed?

Like many parts of your car, your windscreen is becoming ever more advanced and complex, mostly without you even knowing it.

You’ll hear of lots of new technologies that are making our cars safer, like lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and collision avoidance. These are known as Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS. The windscreen is at the heart of these technologies, which operate via a tiny camera set into your windscreen. If your windscreen is incorrectly fitted, even by just a few millimeters, these technologies won’t work properly!

What is the process of repairing ADAS windows?

Once the windscreen is fitted to your vehicle, it then needs to be scanned by the TEXA Diagnostic Tool and using a combination of calibration panels and dynamic driving tests, the system will ensure that the ADAS is correctly aligned and ‘seeing’ the road exactly in order for the systems to function at their optimal level.

The process can take a few hours to complete, but will ensure that everything is working correctly and to manufacturers standards.
